HAPHI is a minority run, non-profit agency dedicated to providing members of the Haitian-American community in Metro Boston with culturally and linguistically accessible information and services to improve their health and wellbeing. Located in Mattapan, HAPHI was founded in 1989 by a group of Haitian-American health care professionals to address pressing public health issues confronting Boston’s Haitian community. HAPHI serves primarily newly arrived Haitians and Haitian-Americans living in the greater Boston area and surrounding communities. HAPHI provides a comprehensive range of prevention, education, and direct service programs to Haitian-Americans from the greater metropolitan area of Boston. HAPHIโs programs have come to fill critical service gaps for Haitians within Boston. Its programs emphasize disease prevention and individual and community empowerment.
HAPHI’s mission is to provide Haitian Americans living in greater Boston with the information and skills they need to improve their health and well-being. HAPHI achieves this mission by: providing culturally relevant, factual information and training to Haitians about the general health and social issues that shapes their lives; cultivating norms that support and encourage healthy behaviors within the community-at-large; and, improving access to services and economics opportunities that address the health and social needs of Haitians.
HAPHIโs core programming includes: Preventive Health, Community Education and Outreach,Refugee resettlement, English as a Second Language, Citizenship classes.
